We've always felt a bit disconnected from the our users, and so decided that a blog would be be the best way to remedy the situation. In addition to posting relevant or interesting articles on both finding the perfect holiday accomodation and tips for advertising we aim to use the blog to keep you abreast of the exciting new developments as we're working on them and ask for feedback or suggestions - As always - Comments are welcome!

One of the things we've always felt was lacking on the site was a decent search engine. We'll be the first to admit that the first cut was nothing more than a list for a given region, and really wasn't particularly useful at helping holiday makers find their perfect holiday accommodation. We've spent a huge amount of time writing an entirely new search engine that's not only (we hope) useful, but extremely fast. Features include:

• An easy to use 4 part filtering system - Choose your location, pick yours dates, set your price, and refine with filters.
• Search for a town or city and have it plotted on the map, with an expandable search radius
• Better maps - Bigger, clearer, and more interactive, drill down, zoom out.
• Better results navigation – Sorting by price, and choose the number of results per page

The new version of the site went live on 7th of August 2009 and addresses the most common development feedback we received from property owners and holiday makers alike, namely:

New Location System

We had lots of feedback on this - Including certain towns not being listed, the method used to set the location being overwhelming (Too many locations), and locations not being spelled correctly. We've re-architected this from the ground up - No longer do you have to drill through a list - Simply give us your properties address and we'll find you. Simple.

New Look

The old look was getting a bit dated so we went to town on the design - Simplified navigation, bolder colours, a wider, centralised layout, and added usability features (Graphic indicators, search autocomplete)

Speed

We also listened to your concerns the some of the searches took a while to return. As part of the re-architect we've also vastly sped up the search time and the responsiveness of the system to pave the way for our next round of expansion and our growing user base.
